Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the top of your teeth. They are cosmetic tooth restorations that have many uses, some of which are:
- Correcting spaces between teeth
- Whitening stained or discolored teeth
- Covering chipped teeth
- Shaping small or misshapen teeth
These cosmetic enhancements are made individually according to each patient’s needs. They are made from a material that looks very similar to natural dental enamel. Because veneers are made specifically for the patient, the process requires two appointments. In the first visit, the teeth are shaped and slightly reduced in preparation for veneer placement. The dentist will then take an impression of the newly shaped teeth and send the mold to the dental lab. During the second visit, the veneers will be placed on your teeth using a strong dental adhesive.
